Recent research presented in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health - Chiropractic, reveals that chiropractic care may play an important role in managing neurological disorders such as seizures.

Basic science research shows that the proper development and function of the brain relies on proper structure and movement of the spine from an early age.

The article reported on a 15-month-old boy who, for 9 months, had been experiencing several seizures per week. A traditional medical workup found no clear cause for the seizures, so his parents turned to chiropractic for answers.

According to the research, the chiropractor “found significant structural shifts in his spine.” Those shifts can cause vertebral subluxations, or obstruction of nerves, which are what chiropractors correct.

After 17 adjustments, the chiropractor was able to reduce the child’s subluxations, and the patient’s seizures gradually tapered and ended.

The brain constantly needs and wants to know where our body is in space. If there is obstruction to the neurological communication between the spine and the brain all sorts of malfunctions can occur.
